About: Pottiga

Pottiga was first mentioned in a document in 1325. A manor belonged to the village, whose first lords bore the name of the village. Over the years, the manor of Pottiga changed hands several times until it was finally broken up in 1834. The village itself probably goes back to a Sorbian settlement. Pottiga's coat of arms shows in the upper part three coniferous trees in front of green hills, which refer to the surrounding landscape, and two crossed hammers on a red background. The hammers are an expression of the regional mining tradition. A hammer mill in the district of Saalbach (originally called Saalhammer) belonged to Pottiga. In the 19th century there is talk of abandoned shafts and iron and copper gravel pits, the quality of which is described as "satisfaction and constancy". Pottiga originally belonged to Gefell, later to Berg, in 1626 it was parished to Sparnberg. Nevertheless the inhabitants of Pottiga were buried in Berg. Baptisms took place locally and communions again in Sparnberg. What coined the saying: "Baptized in Reuß, married in Saxony, looked at for the last time in Baireuth". Only in 1824 Pottiga got its own cemetery. At the same time the village was parished together with Arlas to Frössen. Pottiga was connected with Arlas especially by the celebration of the church fairs and fairs.

Les baptêmes ont eu lieu localement et les communions à leur tour à Sparnberg. D'où le dicton : "Baptisé à Reuß, marié en Saxe, vu pour la dernière fois à Baireuth". Ce n'est qu'en 1824 que Pottiga a reçu son propre cimetière. En même temps, le village a été paré avec Arlas à Frössen. Pottiga était particulièrement associée à Arlas dans la célébration des fêtes d'église et des foires.

Pottigas Wappen zeigt im oberen Bereich drei Nadelbäume vor grünen Hügeln, die auf die Landschaft der Umgebung verweisen und zwei gekreuzte Hämmer auf rotem Grund. Die Hämmer sind ein Ausdruck der regionalen Bergbautradition. Zu Pottiga gehörte ein Hammerwerk im Ortsteil Saalbach (ursprünglich Saalhammer genannt). Im 19. Jahrhundert ist die Rede von aufgegebenen Schächten und Eisen- und Kupferkiesgruben, deren Qualität mit „Zufriedenheit und Konstanze“ bezeichnet wird. Kirchlich gehörte Pottiga ursprünglich zu Gefell, später zu Berg, 1626 pfarrte man dann nach Sparnberg. Begraben wurden die Einwohner Pottigas dennoch in Berg. Taufen geschahen vor Ort und Kommunionen wiederum Sparnberg. Was den Ausspruch prägte: „Getauft in Reuß, getraut in Sachsen, zum letzten Mal beschaut im Baireuthischen.“ Erst 1824 erhielt Pottiga einen eigenen Friedhof. Zeitgleich pfarrte man den Ort dann gemeinsam mit Arlas nach Frössen. Mit Arlas verbanden Pottiga besonders das Zelebrieren der Kirchweih und Jahrmärkte.
