About: Schaala

Das kleine Dörfchen wird 1071 erstmals als "Stahla" erwähnt. Weitere Nennungen: 1350 Schala, 1462 Schale, 1512 Schalla, 1743 Schala. Der Name kommt aus dem Slawischen und bedeutet Schlucht, Höhle, auch Nebenarm eines Flusses. In der Bauernsiedlung besaßen im 15. Jahrhundert Mitglieder des Adelsgeschlechtes von Schaala als schwarzburgische Lehensleute einen Siedelhof. Dieser ging in Besitz der Vitzthum von Eckstedt über, die ihn bis Mitte des 18. Jahrhunderts behielten. Der heimische Porzellanerfinder Georg Heinrich Macheleid gründete im Jahre 1790 auf dem Gelände eine Steingut- und Fayencefabrik, die später der Hofmaler Johann Franz Kotta besaß, unter dem Eigentümer Ferdinand Moersberger ab 1850 als Porzellanfabrik betrieben wurde und die bis kurz nach dem 1. Weltkrieg bestand. Das reichliche Wasserdargebot des Schaalbaches konnte von mehreren Mühlen genutzt werden. Neben der Landwirtschaft spielte bis Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts der Weinbau eine wichtige Rolle als Erwerbsquelle. Zudem waren früher und sind auch heute mehrere kleine Gewerbebetriebe in Schaala ansässig. Ab der Wende zum 20. Jahrhundert prägten zunehmend nichtlandwirtschaftliche, städtische Bauwerke das Ortstbild, in dessen Zentrum eine gut erhaltene Wehrkirche steht. Aus einem nahe des Dorfes gelegenen Vogelherd entstand ab 1856 ein Landwirtschaftsbetrieb mit Gastronomie, der nach seinem ersten Besitzer "Schwarzenshof" genannt wird. Die Wirtschaftsgebäude wurden 1906 durch einen Brand vernichtet. Das Wohn- und Gasthaus erwarb 1923 die Methodistische Kirche Berlin, um darin ein Altenheim unterzubringen, das 1925 eingeweiht wurde. In der Folgezeit vervollständigten eine Jugendherberge und ein Ferienheim das Anwesen. Derzeit betreibt die evangelisch-methodistische Kirche dort eine Begegnungs- und Bildungsstätte. Schaala gehört seit seiner Eingemeindung am 1. Juli 1950 zu Rudolstadt.

Le nom vient du slave et signifie gorge, grotte, mais aussi bras secondaire d'une rivière. Au 15ème siècle, les membres de la famille noble de Schaala possédaient une ferme seigneuriale dans le village agricole, en tant que vassaux de Schwarzburg. Celle-ci devint la propriété des Vitzthum von Eckstedt, qui la conservèrent jusqu'au milieu du 18e siècle. En 1790, l'inventeur local de porcelaine Georg Heinrich Macheleid fonda sur le terrain une fabrique de faïence et de grès, qui fut plus tard possédée par le peintre de cour Johann Franz Kotta, puis exploitée en tant que fabrique de porcelaine par le propriétaire Ferdinand Moersberger à partir de 1850 et qui exista jusqu'à peu après la Première Guerre mondiale. L'abondance d'eau du Schaalbach pouvait être utilisée par plusieurs moulins. Outre l'agriculture, la viticulture a joué un rôle important comme source de revenus jusqu'à la fin du 19e siècle. En outre, plusieurs petites entreprises artisanales étaient et sont toujours implantées à Schaala. À partir du tournant du 20e siècle, le village a été de plus en plus marqué par des constructions urbaines non agricoles, au centre desquelles se trouve une église fortifiée bien conservée. À partir d'un foyer d'oiseaux situé à proximité du village, une exploitation agricole avec restauration a vu le jour à partir de 1856, appelée "Schwarzenshof" du nom de son premier propriétaire. Les bâtiments agricoles ont été détruits par un incendie en 1906. En 1923, l'église méthodiste de Berlin a racheté l'habitation et l'auberge pour y installer une maison de retraite, inaugurée en 1925. Par la suite, une auberge de jeunesse et un centre de vacances complétèrent le domaine. Actuellement, l'Église évangélique méthodiste y gère un centre de rencontre et de formation. Schaala fait partie de Rudolstadt depuis son rattachement à la commune le 1er juillet 1950.

In the 15th century, members of the noble family of Schaala owned a settlement farm in the peasant settlement as Schwarzburg feudatories.
