Around 1880, the construction of a city park on Park Avenue began according to plan. Trees and shrubs were planted, circular paths and ponds were created, and fountains were installed. Today, the city park has become a Mecca for runners because of its well-prepared and level paths. A large display board provides information about the length and condition of the trails. Until the 2nd half of the 19th century, the terrain of today's city park was a marshy floodplain of the Zorge river. When the construction of new streets and residential quarters began in Nordhausen, the resulting construction rubble was used to fill a dam to the east of the Zorge River and was also driven onto the marshy terrain. The area thus gained was planted with fast-growing woody plants. An avenue of chestnut trees was created on the embankment, which still adorns the path today. On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Friedrich Schiller's death, the park received a Schiller bench in 1905, made of granite from the Brocken. It stands in the immediate vicinity of the lower pond. Not far from it, a reformers' bench commemorates the Nordhausen reformers Justus Jonas, Michael Meyenburg and Johannes Spangenberg. Since the mid-90s of the last century, ecological land treatment has been introduced. Stone walls and deadwood piles provide habitats for lizards, newts, toads and many other small creatures. An interesting fish population has developed in two ponds. Various animal enclosures and the duck pond attract many visitors. In total, the fallow deer enclosure is home to one deer, four does and one calf, and the red deer enclosure is home to one deer, two does, one year-old female (slender) and one calf. "The size of the two enclosures also determines the number of animals that is exhausted with this stock. In the "petting enclosure" six wild sheep, five goats and a donkey can be visited to the delight of children. There are also the aviaries that house two collared parakeets, three goat parakeets, seven budgies and five quails. A large adventure playground with a huge climbing structure, trampoline, sand play area and various play stations attract especially the younger guests. Here they can play, romp and climb.

Um 1880 begann man planmäßig mit der Errichtung eines Stadtparks an der Parkallee. Bäume und Sträucher wurden gepflanzt, Rundwege und Teiche angelegt und Springbrunnen installiert. Der Stadtpark hat sich heute wegen seiner gut hergerichteten und ebenen Wege zum Mekka für Läufer entwickelt. Eine große Schautafel gibt über Länge und Beschaffenheit der Strecken Auskunft. Bis in die 2. Hälfte des 19. Jahrhunderts war das Terrain des heutigen Stadtparks ein versumpftes Überflutungsgelände der Zorge. Als in Nordhausen mit dem Bau neuer Straßen und Wohnviertel begonnen wurde, ließ man den anfallenden Bauschutt zum Einen für das Aufschütten eines Dammes östlich der Zorge und zum Anderen auf das sumpfige Gelände anfahren. Das so gewonnene Gelände wurde mit schnell wachsenden Gehölzen bepflanzt. Auf dem Damm entstand eine Kastanienallee, die noch heute den Weg ziert. Anlässlich des 100. Todestages von Friedrich Schiller erhielt der Park 1905 eine Schillerbank, die aus Granit vom Brocken besteht. Sie steht in unmittelbarer Nähe des unteren Teiches. Unweit davon erinnert eine Reformatorenbank an die Nordhäuser Reformatoren Justus Jonas, Michael Meyenburg und Johannes Spangenberg. Seit Mitte der 90er Jahre des vergangenen Jahrhunderts wurde eine ökologische Flächenbehandlung eingeführt. Steinwälle und Totholzhaufen bieten Lebensräume für Echsen, Molche, Kröten und viele andere Kleinlebewesen. In zwei Teichen hat sich ein interessanter Fischbestand entwickelt. Verschiedene Tiergehege und der Ententeich ziehen viele Besucher an. Insgesamt leben im Damwildgehege ein Hirsch, vier Alttiere und ein Kalb und im Rotwildgehege ein Hirsch, zwei Alttiere, ein einjähriges weibliches Tier (Schmaltier) und ein Kalb. “Die Größe der beiden Gehege bestimmt auch die Anzahl der Tiere, die mit diesem Bestand ausgeschöpft ist. Im "Streichelgehege" können sechs Wildschafe, fünf Ziegen und ein Esel zur Freude der Kinder besucht werden. Außerdem stehen hier auch die Volieren, in denen zwei Halsbandsittiche, drei Ziegensittiche, sieben Wellensittiche und fünf Wachteln untergebracht sind. Ein großer Abenteuerspielplatz mit riesen Kletteranlage, Trampolin, Sandspielbereich und verschiedenen Spielstationen locken besonders die kleinen Gäste. Hier können sie spielen, toben und klettern.

Non loin de là, un banc des réformateurs rappelle les réformateurs de Nordhausen Justus Jonas, Michael Meyenburg et Johannes Spangenberg. Depuis le milieu des années 90 du siècle dernier, un traitement écologique des surfaces a été mis en place. Des murs de pierres et des tas de bois mort offrent des habitats aux lézards, tritons, crapauds et à de nombreux autres petits êtres vivants. Une population de poissons intéressante s'est développée dans deux étangs. Différents enclos pour animaux et la mare aux canards attirent de nombreux visiteurs. Au total, l'enclos des daims abrite un cerf, quatre adultes et un veau, tandis que l'enclos des cerfs abrite un cerf, deux adultes, une femelle d'un an (éterle) et un veau. "La taille des deux enclos détermine également le nombre d'animaux qui est épuisé avec cet effectif. Dans "l'enclos des caresses", six moutons sauvages, cinq chèvres et un âne peuvent être visités pour le plus grand plaisir des enfants. En outre, on y trouve également les volières qui abritent deux perruches à collier, trois perruches de chèvre, sept perruches ondulées et cinq cailles. Une grande aire de jeux d'aventure avec une énorme installation d'escalade, un trampoline, une zone de jeux de sable et différentes stations de jeux attirent particulièrement les petits visiteurs. Ils peuvent y jouer, se défouler et grimper.
