Historisch blickt die Region auf eine reiche Geschichte zurück, die eng mit den Vögten -später den reußischen Fürsten- verbunden ist, die noch heute namensgebend für das Vogtland sind. Das bereits gut ausgebaute Wander- und Radwegenetz wird durch den Sagenweg ergänzt. Radfahrer können sich hier auf eine naturbelassene Wegführung und eine beeindruckende Landschaft sowie die Ruhe des Pöllwitzer Waldes freuen. Der Einstieg ist in beiden Städten möglich. Ausgehend vom 2,28 km² großen Zeulenrodaer Meer, das seit 2012 zum Baden freigegeben ist, gelangt man mittels 5 Informationstafeln zu kulturellen und geschichtlichen Hintergründen der Region bis nach Greiz. Als Hauptstadt des einst kleinsten Fürstentums Deutschlands repräsentiert Greiz mit seinen drei Schlössern einen einzigartigen historischen Kulturstandort. Zwischen den beiden Städten liegt der ehemals militärisch genutzte Pöllwitzer Wald. Als DBU-Naturerbefläche stehen heute die naturschutzfachlichen Ziele und das Naturerlebnis im Vordergrund. Ein 650 Meter langer Moorerlebnispfad mit Aussichtsturm sowie ein Naturlehrpfad, welche direkt am Sagenweg liegen, informieren über den Naturraum von Wald und Moor.

Historically, the region has a rich history closely connected with the Vogts—later the Reuß princes—who still lend their name to the Vogtland today. The already well-developed hiking and biking trail network is supplemented by the Sagenweg. Cyclists can look forward to a natural trail and impressive landscape as well as the tranquility of the Pöllwitzer Forest. The starting point is possible in both towns. Starting from the 2.28 km² large Zeulenrodaer Meer, which has been open for swimming since 2012, five information boards lead to cultural and historical backgrounds of the region up to Greiz. As the capital of what was once Germany's smallest principality, Greiz, with its three castles, represents a unique historical cultural site. Between the two towns lies the formerly militarily used Pöllwitzer Forest. As a DBU Natural Heritage Site, conservation goals and nature experience are the focus today. A 650-meter-long moor adventure path with a lookout tower as well as a nature trail, both directly on the Sagenweg, provide information about the natural environment of forest and moor.

Historiquement, la région possède une riche histoire liée aux Vogt - plus tard aux princes Reuß - qui donnent toujours leur nom au Vogtland. Le réseau de sentiers de randonnée et pistes cyclables déjà bien développé est complété par le sentier des légendes. Les cyclistes peuvent y profiter d’un itinéraire naturel, d’un paysage impressionnant et de la tranquillité de la forêt de Pöllwitzer. L’accès est possible depuis les deux villes. Partant du lac Zeulenrodaer Meer de 2,28 km², accessible à la baignade depuis 2012, cinq panneaux d’information permettent d’en apprendre davantage sur les contextes culturels et historiques de la région jusqu’à Greiz. En tant que capitale de l’ancien plus petit principauté d’Allemagne, Greiz représente avec ses trois châteaux un site culturel historique unique. Entre les deux villes se trouve la forêt de Pöllwitzer, anciennement utilisée à des fins militaires. En tant que réserve naturelle DBU, la protection de la nature et l’expérience de la nature sont aujourd’hui prioritaires. Un sentier d'expérience de la tourbière long de 650 mètres avec tour d’observation ainsi qu’un sentier nature, directement situés sur le sentier des légendes, informent sur l’espace naturel de la forêt et de la tourbière.
