Southeast of Kahla, wooded hills rise steeply into the Saale valley. Since time immemorial, this has been a rich hunting ground for game and rutting grounds. The baroque dukes were aware of this and built the first wooden hunting grounds in 1620. In 1717, the hunting complex was then equipped with stone underground passages, the blow house and hunting screens, which enabled the noble huntsman to sneak up on the game unnoticed. At the bottom of the L1110, it is worth taking a detour to the other side of the road to the refreshing drinking water spring "Lenzborn" before continuing uphill to the Herzogstuhl, in its tower-like shape, which was built on the model of the Toppler Castle in Rothenburg ob der Tauber. From here, the trail continues to the Rieseneck hunting lodge and the Green House, which was built in 1727 as a hunting lodge and has since served the dukes as a bad-weather accommodation and "dining hall".The trail then leads back to the parking lot at the Chausseehaus, where the 5-kilometer tour ends - or you can continue hiking 6 kilometers through the idyllic Leubengrund.  Tour extension: The forest path at the parking lot leads along the edge of the forest in the direction of Hummelshain, a small residential village in which still had many of the former functional buildings of the ducal hunting fever.
