Die Routenführung erinnert mit Blick auf die Karte sofort an Frankreich... Eventuell kommt beim Befahren ja ein wenig "Tour de France"-Feeling auf. Die Tour zwischen Ilm- und Schwarzatal beginnt an den Großen Teichen von Ilmenau. Hier stehen ausreichend Parkplätze zur Verfügung und die ersten Meter sind perfekt, um warm zu werden. Über kleine Dörfer, zu denen auch Paulinzella mit seiner charmanten Klosterruine zählen, führt die Strecke ins Schwarzatal. In Rottenbach lohnt sich ein kleiner Umweg über den Bahnhof. Allerdings sollte die Pause nicht zu lange sein, denn das Schwarzatal ist heimtükisch, denn von hier an wird es knackig. Die Höhenmeter hinauf in Richtung Großbreitenbach erfordern Biss. Kräuter-Fans sollten in der Heimatstadt der ehemaligen Biathletin Andrea Henkel unbedingt Halt in der Kräuterschule machen. Nach einem Anstieg hoch zu "Hohen Tanne" wird es talabwärts entlang der einstigen Bahntrasse des heutigen Ilm-Rennsteig-Radweges fortan nur noch entspannt rollen. Hier kann man Streckenweise ordentlich Speed aufnehmen. Highlight ist die längste ICE-Brücke Deutschlands kurz vor Langewiesen. Über den Ilmtal-Radweg geht es zurück in die Universitäts- und Goethestadt Ilmenau. Am Ziel lohnt eine Einkehr im Biergarten des "Haus am See.

Le tracé du parcours rappelle immédiatement la France sur la carte... Peut-être ressentirez-vous un peu l'ambiance du "Tour de France" en le parcourant. Le parcours entre la vallée de l'Ilm et celle de Schwarzatal commence aux grands étangs d'Ilmenau. Il y a suffisamment de places de parking et les premiers mètres sont parfaits pour s'échauffer. À travers de petits villages, dont Paulinzella avec sa charmante ruine de monastère, la route mène dans la vallée de Schwarzatal. À Rottenbach, il vaut la peine de faire un petit détour par la gare. Cependant, la pause ne devrait pas être trop longue, car la vallée de Schwarzatal est traître, à partir d'ici ça devient corsé. Les dénivelés en direction de Großbreitenbach exigent de la ténacité. Les amateurs de plantes médicinales devraient absolument s'arrêter à l'école des herbes aromatiques dans la ville natale de l'ancienne biathlète Andrea Henkel. Après une montée jusqu'à "Hohen Tanne", la descente se fait le long de l'ancienne voie ferrée aujourd'hui transformée en piste cyclable Ilm-Rennsteig, un terrain plutôt tranquille où l'on peut prendre une belle vitesse par endroits. Le point fort est le plus long pont ICE d'Allemagne peu avant Langewiesen. Par la piste cyclable de la vallée de l'Ilm, on retourne ensuite dans la ville universitaire et de Goethe, Ilmenau. À l'arrivée, une halte au biergarten du "Maison au lac" est recommandée.

The route immediately reminds one of France when looking at the map... Perhaps riding it gives a bit of "Tour de France" feeling. The route between the Ilm and Schwarzatal starts at the Große Teiche of Ilmenau. There are sufficient parking spaces here and the first meters are perfect to warm up. Through small villages, including Paulinzella with its charming monastery ruins, the route leads into the Schwarzatal. In Rottenbach, a short detour to the station is worthwhile. However, the break should not be too long, as the Schwarzatal is deceptive, as from here on it gets challenging. The altitude meters uphill towards Großbreitenbach require perseverance. Herb enthusiasts should definitely stop at the herbal school in the hometown of the former biathlete Andrea Henkel. After a climb up to "Hohen Tanne," it is then relaxing downhill along the former railway track of today's Ilm-Rennsteig cycle path. Here, it is possible to gain good speed in parts. A highlight is Germany’s longest ICE bridge shortly before Langewiesen. It goes back via the Ilmtal cycle path to the university and Goethe city Ilmenau. At the destination, a stop at the beer garden of the "Haus am See" is recommended.
