Oßmannstedt (956 Ersterwähnung als Azmenstat, 1344 Atzmanstete, 1482 Asmestete, 1797 bei Goethe Oßmannstädt) ist ein Ortsteil der Landgemeinde Ilmtal-Weinstraße im Nordosten des Landkreises Weimarer Land. Das Dorf liegt nordöstlich von Weimar und westlich von Apolda. Zwischen den Dörfern Oßmannstedt und Ulrichshalben fließt der Fluss Ilm. In der Nähe befindet sich der ehemalige Getreidespeicher Oßmannstedt. Schon lange vor der ersturkundlichen Erwähnung befand sich in dem Ort der Sitz eines Adelsgeschlechtes, das etwa in der zweiten Hälfte des 5. Jahrhunderts hier lebte. Dies wird durch den Fund von Gebeinen einer Ostgotin hohen Adelsstandes nahegelegt. Der Grabungsfund weist auf ein Bündnis von thüringischen mit ostgotischen Stämmen hin. Bei Ausgrabungen in der Nähe des Ortes wurde in ihrem Grab eine goldene Gewandspange gefunden. Diesen stilisierten Adler, eine sogenannte Adlerfibel, ließ die Gemeinde stark vergrößert auf einem Erinnerungsstein in einer Anlage nahe dem Freibad abbilden. Mitte des 13. Jahrhunderts bis 1440 residierte eine Seitenlinie der Herren von Liebstedt, die Ritter von Oßmannstedt, im Ort. 1290 erhielten sie die Burg vom König übertragen. Diese Burg lag am linken Ufer der Ilm am Unterlauf an der Stelle des jetzigen Wielandgutes. Das Ilmtal macht hier für eine Furt Platz. Hier querte die Kupferstraße die Ilm, und von der Burg aus konnte die Straße und der Verkehr gut überwacht und kontrolliert werden. Später mussten die Ritter von Oßmannstedt die Lehnshoheit an die Lobedeburger und ab 1344 an die Landgrafen von Thüringen abgeben. Ab 1440 erwarben die Herren von Harras den Besitz. Das Anwesen und die Burg wurden 1450 im Sächsischen Bruderkrieg zerstört. Danach richteten die Grafen ein Rittergut ein. Dann übernahmen die Herren von Bünau das Anwesen. Heinrich von Bünau ließ das heutige Gutshaus bauen und den Park anlegen. Von 1783 bis 1795 war der Illuminat August Dietrich Graf Marschall Besitzer des Schatullguts in Oßmannstedt gewesen. Dieses Gut mit Park kaufte 1797 Christoph Martin Wieland und bewirtschaftete es bis 1803. Jetzt ist es Wieland-Gedenkstätte. Oßmannstedt gehörte bis 1815 zum Amt Weimar und kam dann an das Amt Roßla, welches 1850 im Verwaltungsbezirk Apolda des Großherzogtums Sachsen-Weimar-Eisenach aufging. 1920 kam der Ort zum Land Thüringen. Am 1. Juli 1950 wurde die bis dahin eigenständige Gemeinde Ulrichshalben eingegliedert. Bis zum 31. Dezember 2013 war Oßmannstedt der Verwaltungsgemeinschaft Ilmtal-Weinstraße zugehörig. Diese wurde zum genannten Datum aufgelöst, und Oßmannstedt wie auch Ulrichshalben wurden eigenständige Ortsteile der neuen Landgemeinde Ilmtal-Weinstraße.

Oßmannstedt (first mentioned in 956 as Azmenstat, 1344 Atzmanstete, 1482 Asmestete, 1797 by Goethe Oßmannstädt) is a district of the rural community of Ilmtal-Weinstraße in the north-east of the district of Weimarer Land. The village lies north-east of Weimar and west of Apolda. The River Ilm flows between the villages of Oßmannstedt and Ulrichshalben. The former Oßmannstedt granary is located nearby. Long before the village was first mentioned in a document, it was the seat of a noble family who lived here in the second half of the 5th century. This is suggested by the discovery of the bones of an Ostrogoth of high noble rank. The excavation find points to an alliance between Thuringian and Ostrogothic tribes. During excavations near the site, a golden garment clasp was found in her grave. The municipality had this stylized eagle, a so-called eagle brooch, reproduced in a greatly enlarged form on a commemorative stone in an area near the outdoor pool. A collateral line of the Lords of Liebstedt, the Knights of Oßmannstedt, resided in the village from the mid-13th century until 1440. They received the castle from the king in 1290. This castle was located on the left bank of the Ilm on the lower course of the river at the site of the current Wieland estate. The Ilm valley makes way for a ford here. The copper road crossed the Ilm here, and the road and traffic could be easily monitored and controlled from the castle. Later, the Knights of Oßmannstedt had to relinquish their feudal sovereignty to the Lobedeburger and, from 1344, to the Landgraves of Thuringia. From 1440, the lords of Harras acquired the property. The estate and the castle were destroyed in 1450 during the Saxon Fratricidal War. The counts then established a manor. The lords of Bünau then took over the estate. Heinrich von Bünau had today's manor house built and the park laid out. From 1783 to 1795, the illustrious August Dietrich Graf Marschall was the owner of the Schatullgut estate in Oßmannstedt. Christoph Martin Wieland bought this estate and park in 1797 and managed it until 1803. It is now a Wieland memorial. Oßmannstedt belonged to the Weimar office until 1815 and then came to the Roßla office, which was absorbed into the Apolda administrative district of the Grand Duchy of Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach in 1850. In 1920, the town became part of the state of Thuringia. On July 1, 1950, the previously independent municipality of Ulrichshalben was incorporated. Until December 31, 2013, Oßmannstedt was part of the Ilmtal-Weinstraße administrative community. This was dissolved on this date and Oßmannstedt and Ulrichshalben became independent districts of the new rural municipality of Ilmtal-Weinstraße.

Ce château se trouvait sur la rive gauche de l'Ilm, sur le cours inférieur, à l'emplacement de l'actuel domaine de Wieland. La vallée de l'Ilm fait place ici à un gué. C'est ici que la route du cuivre traversait l'Ilm et, depuis le château, la route et le trafic pouvaient être facilement surveillés et contrôlés. Plus tard, les chevaliers d'Oßmannstedt durent céder leur suzeraineté aux Lobedeburger et, à partir de 1344, aux landgraves de Thuringe. À partir de 1440, les seigneurs de Harras acquirent la propriété. Le domaine et le château furent détruits en 1450 lors de la guerre fratricide de Saxe. Les comtes y installèrent ensuite un manoir. Puis les seigneurs de Bünau ont repris le domaine. Heinrich von Bünau fit construire le manoir actuel et aménager le parc. De 1783 à 1795, l'enlumineur August Dietrich Graf Marschall avait été propriétaire du domaine de Schatull à Oßmannstedt. Christoph Martin Wieland acheta ce domaine et son parc en 1797 et l'exploita jusqu'en 1803. C'est maintenant le mémorial de Wieland. Oßmannstedt a fait partie de l'administration de Weimar jusqu'en 1815, puis a été rattaché à l'administration de Rossla, qui a été intégrée en 1850 à la circonscription administrative d'Apolda du grand-duché de Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach. En 1920, la localité fut rattachée au Land de Thuringe. Le 1er juillet 1950, la commune d'Ulrichshalben, jusqu'alors indépendante, y a été intégrée. Jusqu'au 31 décembre 2013, Oßmannstedt faisait partie de la communauté administrative Ilmtal-Weinstraße. Celle-ci a été dissoute à cette date et Oßmannstedt ainsi qu'Ulrichshalben sont devenus des quartiers indépendants de la nouvelle commune rurale d'Ilmtal-Weinstraße.
