Als Zehnjähriger zog der Knabe Bach 1695 zu seinem großen Bruder nach Ohrdruf und besuchte hier in den folgenden fünf Jahren das Lyzeum. In Arnstadt erhielt Bach 1703 seine erste Anstellung als Organist der Neuen Kirche und im nahe gelegenen Dornheim heiratete er vier Jahre später seine Cousine Maria Barbara. Es sind aber nicht nur die Bachorte, die das Besondere und Reizvolle dieses Radweges ausmachen. Es sind auch die Landschaften, die er verbindet: Die sanften Hügel des Thüringer Burgenlandes "Drei Gleichen" im Norden, das Tal der Gera im Osten und der Nordhang des Thüringer Waldes samt Rennsteig im Süden. At the age of ten, the boy Bach moved in 1695 to his older brother in Ohrdruf and attended the lyceum there for the next five years. In Arnstadt, Bach received his first position in 1703 as organist of the New Church, and in nearby Dornheim, four years later, he married his cousin Maria Barbara. But it is not only the Bach locations that make this cycle route special and appealing. It is also the landscapes it connects: the gentle hills of the Thuringian Castle Land "Drei Gleichen" in the north, the valley of the Gera in the east, and the northern slope of the Thuringian Forest including Rennsteig in the south.
