Das Romantikerhaus Jena, im ehemaligen Wohnhaus des Philosophen Johann Gottlieb Fichte, ist heute Literaturmuseum zur Jenaer Frühromantik. Hier wird nicht nur an das legendäre Romantikertreffen von 1799 erinnert, sondern auch die überragende kulturelle Ausstrahlungskraft Jenas um 1800 aufgezeigt. Das Zusammenwirken von Dichtung, Philosophie, Kunst und Naturlehre begründete hier eine neue Ästhetik, die bis heute wirkungsmächtig ist. Die Ausstellung stellt das geistige Klima jener Jahre (etwa von 1785 bis 1800) dar, in denen die Frühromantik als literarisch-philosophische Strömung und zeitweise sogar als gemeinsam gelebter Lebensentwurf gedeihen konnte.

Le Romantikerhaus Jena, dans l'ancienne maison du philosophe Johann Gottlieb Fichte, est aujourd'hui un musée de la littérature sur le romantisme précoce d'Iéna. On y commémore non seulement la légendaire rencontre romantique de 1799, mais on y démontre aussi le charisme culturel exceptionnel d'Iéna vers 1800. L'interaction de la poésie, de la philosophie, de l'art et des sciences naturelles a créé une nouvelle esthétique qui a encore de l'influence aujourd'hui. L'exposition décrit le climat intellectuel de ces années (environ de 1785 à 1800) dans lequel le romantisme précoce a pu s'épanouir en tant que courant littéraire et philosophique et, parfois même, en tant que mode de vie commun.

The Romantikerhaus Jena, in the former home of the philosopher Johann Gottlieb Fichte, is today a literature museum on Jena's early Romanticism. Not only is the legendary Romantic meeting of 1799 commemorated here, but Jena's outstanding cultural charisma around 1800 is also demonstrated. The interaction of poetry, philosophy, art and natural science established a new aesthetic here that is still influential today. The exhibition depicts the intellectual climate of those years (roughly from 1785 to 1800) in which early Romanticism was able to flourish as a literary-philosophical current and, at times, even as a shared way of life.
