La tour de Bismarck à Iéna est un monument marquant situé sur le Tatzend à 328 mètres d'altitude dans la forêt d'Iéna. Elle a été érigée entre 1906 et 1909 et inaugurée solennellement le 5 juillet 1909. La tour a été construite à l'initiative des étudiants d'Iéna, soutenus par des personnalités telles que le zoologiste Ernst Haeckel et l'éditeur Gustav Neuenhahn. La construction a été financée par des dons d'étudiants, de citoyens et d'associations. Le célèbre architecte Wilhelm Kreis a conçu la tour ronde de 21 mètres de haut en moellons de calcaire, qui se distingue par son architecture monumentale et les aigles en pierre du sculpteur d'Iéna Otto Späte. La tour Bismarck a remplacé la tour artificielle en ruine "Malakoff" qui se trouvait auparavant au même endroit. The Bismarck Tower in Jena is a striking monument on the 328-metre-high Tatzend in Jena Forest. It was erected between 1906 and 1909 and inaugurated on July 5, 1909. The tower was built on the initiative of the Jena student body, supported by personalities such as the zoologist Ernst Haeckel and the publisher Gustav Neuenhahn. The building was financed by donations from students, citizens and associations. The renowned architect Wilhelm Kreis designed the 21-metre-high round tower made of limestone blocks, which is characterized by its monumental architecture and the stone eagles by Jena sculptor Otto Späte. The Bismarck Tower replaced the artificial "Malakoff" tower ruins that had previously stood on the same site. During the GDR era, it was renamed the "Tower of Youth", but was given back its original name after reunification. Today, the Bismarck Tower serves as a vantage point with an impressive view over Jena, especially of the western district and the city center. The Berggesellschaft Forsthaus e.V. association looks after the tower and opens it to visitors on certain dates. The area surrounding the tower in Jena Forest is ideal for walks and hikes and offers other sights such as the Forstturm and the Forsthaus. Der Bismarckturm in Jena ist ein markantes Denkmal auf dem 328 Meter hohen Tatzend im Jenaer Forst. Er wurde zwischen 1906 und 1909 errichtet und am 5. Juli 1909 feierlich eingeweiht. Der Turm entstand auf Initiative der Jenaer Studentenschaft, unterstützt von Persönlichkeiten wie dem Zoologen Ernst Haeckel und dem Verleger Gustav Neuenhahn. Finanziert wurde das Bauwerk durch Spenden von Studenten, Bürgern und Vereinen. Der renommierte Architekt Wilhelm Kreis entwarf den 21 Meter hohen Rundturm aus Kalksteinquadern, der sich durch seine monumentale Architektur und die steinernen Adler des Jenaer Bildhauers Otto Späte auszeichnet. Der Bismarckturm ersetzte die zuvor an gleicher Stelle stehende künstliche Turmruine „Malakoff“. Während der DDR-Zeit wurde er in „Turm der Jugend“ umbenannt, erhielt jedoch nach der Wiedervereinigung seinen ursprünglichen Namen zurück. Heute dient der Bismarckturm als Aussichtspunkt mit beeindruckendem Blick über Jena, insbesondere auf das Westviertel und das Stadtzentrum. Der Verein Berggesellschaft Forsthaus e.V. betreut den Turm und öffnet ihn zu bestimmten Terminen für Besucher. Die Umgebung des Turms im Jenaer Forst lädt zu Spaziergängen und Wanderungen ein und bietet weitere Sehenswürdigkeiten wie den Forstturm und das Forsthaus. Der Bismarckturm in Jena ist somit nicht nur ein historisches Denkmal, sondern auch ein beliebtes Ausflugsziel, das Geschichte und Naturerlebnis miteinander verbindet.
