As early as 1586, a small "medical garden" (Hortus Medicus) was founded in Jena, which later became the "Hortus Botanicus". The modern development, however, is closely associated with the name Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Even today, a mighty old gingko tree is a reminder of this epoch of the Botanical Garden. On an area of 4.5 hectares, approximately 10,000 plant species from important vegetation units of the earth are cultivated in open-air and greenhouse facilities and demonstrated in an aesthetically effective manner. The outdoor facilities include an arboretum with approx. 900 deciduous and coniferous species, an alpine plant nursery with approx. 2,500 species, and also a small hill that is home to representatives of Jenens' species-rich limestone flora. In the greenhouses you can admire the variety of colours, forms and scents of the tropical to subtropical plant world. The greenhouses are subdivided into a cactus and succulent house, a hard-leaf and laurel forest house, a combined palm and tropical house, a small aquarium and paludarium house and finally a Victoria house with the Amazon giant water lily (Victoria) with its unusually large leaves.The Botanical Garden in Jena is located in the centre of the city and is an institution of the Friedrich Schiller University. It belongs to the Institute for Special Botany.
Dès 1586, un petit "jardin médical" (Hortus Medicus) a été fondé à Iéna, qui est devenu plus tard l'"Hortus Botanicus". Le développement moderne est toutefois étroitement associé au nom de Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Aujourd'hui encore, un vieux ginkgo puissant rappelle cette époque du jardin botanique. Sur une superficie de 4,5 hectares, environ 10 000 espèces végétales provenant d'importantes unités de végétation de la terre sont cultivées en plein air et dans des serres et font l'objet de démonstrations esthétiques efficaces. Les installations en plein air comprennent un arboretum avec environ 900 espèces de feuillus et de conifères, une pépinière de plantes alpines avec environ 2 500 espèces, ainsi qu'une petite colline qui abrite des représentants de la flore calcaire de Jenens, riche en espèces. Dans les serres, vous pouvez admirer la variété de couleurs, de formes et de parfums du monde végétal tropical à subtropical. Les serres sont subdivisées en une maison de cactus et de plantes grasses, une maison de forêt de feuillus et de lauriers, une maison combinée de palmiers et de plantes tropicales, une petite maison d'aquarium et de paludarium et enfin une maison Victoria avec le nénuphar géant d'Amazonie (Victoria) aux feuilles inhabituellement grandes. Le jardin botanique d'Iéna est situé au centre de la ville et est une institution de l'université Friedrich Schiller. Il appartient à l'Institut de botanique spéciale.
Schon im Jahre 1586 wurde in Jena ein kleiner "Medizingarten" (Hortus Medicus) gegründet, der später in den "Hortus Botanicus" überging. Die neuzeitliche Entwicklung ist aber vor allem mit dem Namen Johann Wolfgang von Goethe eng verbunden. Noch heute erinnert ein mächtiger, alter Ginkgobaum an diese Epoche des botanischen Gartens. Auf 4,5 ha Grundfläche werden in Frei- und Gewächshausanlagen ca. 12.000 Pflanzenarten aus wichtigen Vegetationseinheiten der Erde kultiviert und ästhetisch wirksam demonstriert. In den Freianlagen findet man u. a. ein Arboretum mit ca. 900 Laub- und Nadelgehölzarten, ein Alpinum mit ca. 2500 Arten und auch einen kleinen Hügel, der Vertreter der artenreichen Jenenser Kalkflora beherbergt. In den Gewächshäusern gibt es die Vielfalt der Farben, Formen und Düfte der tropischen bis subtropischen Pflanzenwelt zu bewundern. Die Gewächshäuser sind untergliedert: in ein Kakteen- und Sukkulentenhaus, in ein Hartlaub- und Lorbeerwald-Haus, in ein kombiniertes Palmen- und Tropenhaus, in ein kleines Aquarium- und Paludarienhaus und schließlich in ein Victoriahaus mit der Amazonas-Riesenseerose (Victoria) mit ihren ungewöhnlich großen Blättern. Der botanische Garten in Jena liegt im Zentrum der Stadt und ist eine Einrichtung der Friedrich-Schiller-Universität. Er gehört zum Institut für Spezielle Botanik.
