La balade à vélo commence au pont Carl-Zeiss marquant à Saalfeld – un pont moderne pour piétons et cyclistes sur la Saale, qui sert de point de départ idéal. De là, elle longe la rivière sur la piste cyclable de la Saale en direction de Rudolstadt. Le parcours offre de larges vues sur le paysage des prairies inondables, les collines boisées et la Saale paisible. Elle continue à travers le secteur industriel de Schwarza jusqu’à la ville baroque de Rudolstadt. En ville, zones commerciales, espaces verts et petits parcs alternent. Ceux qui ont le temps peuvent monter au château de Heidecksburg et profiter de la vue. Le parcours traverse la vallée de la Saale à travers les petits hameaux d'Uhlstädt-Kirchhasel. Le paysage est doux et rural, avec champs, prairies et petites forêts. L'église de village de Kirchhasel, avec sa tour romane-gothique, invite à une pause. À Orlamünde et Freienorla, l’idylle villageoise et les beaux paysages riverains dominent le chemin. À Pößneck, on peut visiter la magnifique vieille ville historique et se restaurer avant la suite du parcours. Il continue via Krölpa et Weira jusqu'à Unterwellenborn, où une excursion à la tour panoramique de Kulm vaut le détour par temps clair. La vue sur les vallées de la Saale et de la Schwarza est impressionnante. La balade se termine au pont Carl-Zeiss à Saalfeld. Le parcours est majoritairement plat à légèrement vallonné et offre une combinaison variée d’expériences naturelles, de haltes culturelles et de possibilités de restauration régionales – parfait pour une sortie sportive d’une journée.

The bike route begins at the striking Carl-Zeiss-Bridge in Saalfeld – a modern foot and cycle bridge over the Saale, which serves as an ideal starting point. From there it goes close to the river on the Saale cycle path towards Rudolstadt. The route offers wide views of the floodplain landscape, wooded hills, and the calm Saale. It continues through the industrially shaped Schwarza into the Baroque town of Rudolstadt. In the urban area, commercial areas, green spaces, and small parks alternate. Those with time can ride up to Heidecksburg and enjoy the view. Along the Saale valley, the route passes through smaller districts of Uhlstädt-Kirchhasel. The landscape is gentle and rural, with fields, meadows, and small woodland areas. The village church in Kirchhasel with its Romanesque-Gothic tower invites you to take a break. Village idyll and beautiful river landscapes shape the way in Orlamünde and Freienorla. In Pößneck, you can visit the wonderful historic old town and refresh yourself for the onward journey. It continues via Krölpa and Weira to Unterwellenborn, where a detour to the Kulm lookout tower is worthwhile in good weather. The view over the Saale and Schwarza valleys is impressive. The tour ends again at the Carl-Zeiss-Bridge in Saalfeld. The route is mostly flat to slightly hilly and offers a varied combination of nature experience, cultural stops, and regional dining options – perfect for a sporty day trip.

Die Radtour beginnt an der markanten Carl-Zeiss-Brücke in Saalfeld – eine moderne Fuß- und Radwegbrücke über die Saale. Von dort geht es flussnah auf dem Saaleradweg in Richtung Rudolstadt. Die Strecke bietet weite Blicke auf die Auenlandschaft, bewaldete Hügel und die ruhige Saale. Es geht weiter durch das industriell geprägte Schwarza in die Barockstadt Rudolstadt. Im Stadtgebiet wechseln sich Gewerbe, Grünflächen und kleine Parks ab. Wer Zeit hat, kann zur Heidecksburg hinauffahren und die Aussicht genießen. Entlang des Saaletals führt die Route durch kleinere Ortsteile von Uhlstädt-Kirchhasel. Die Landschaft ist sanft und ländlich geprägt, mit Feldern, Wiesen und kleinen Waldstücken. Die Dorfkirche in Kirchhasel mit ihrem romanisch-gotischen Turm lädt zur Rast ein. In Orlamünde und Freienorla prägen Dorfidylle und schöne Flusslandschaften den Weg. In Pößneck kann man die wunderschöne historische Altstadt mit dem markanten Rathaus und dem schrägsten Marktplatz Deutschlands besuchen und sich für die Weiterfahrt stärken. Weiter geht es über Krölpa bis nach Unterwellenborn, wo sich bei gutem Wetter ein Abstecher zum Kulm-Aussichtsturm lohnt. Der Blick über das Saaletal ist beeindruckend. Die Tour endet wieder an der Carl-Zeiss-Brücke in Saalfeld. Die Strecke ist größtenteils eben bis leicht hügelig und bietet eine abwechslungsreiche Kombination aus Naturerlebnis, kulturellen Zwischenstopps und regionalen Einkehrmöglichkeiten – perfekt für einen sportlichen Tagesausflug.
