In Sättelstädt, the route leaves the Hörseltal valley and heads south via Schwarzhausen, Winterstein and Fischbach to reach the Kneipp spa resort of Bad Tabarz below the Großer Inselsberg. Friedrichroda, the next destination, is also recognised as a climatic health resort. The route continues through Leinatal to the Bach town of Ohrdruf, where the young Johann Sebastian spent five years of his life. A series of smaller villages with typical village churches, picturesque views and small museums line the route to the university and Goethe town of Ilmenau. Here you meet the Ilmtal and Ilm-Rennsteig cycle paths, which you follow to Langewiesen and Gehren without much elevation gain. After Gehren, the cycle path leads over a gentle elevation along Jesuborn, Pennewitz and Dörnfeld on the heath down to Königsee. From here, the forest edge route follows the Rinnetal valley via Köditz, Rottenbach and Quittelsdorf to Bad Blankenburg, an entry point into the picturesque Schwarzatal valley.</p>
<p>Near Bad Blankenburg, Greifenstein Castle with its falconry is an interesting excursion destination.</p>
<p>The lower reaches of the Schwarza as far as the mouth of the Saale in Rudolstadt-Schwarza are characterised by urban areas. From here, the Waldrandroute runs together with the Saaleradweg to the fairy grotto town of Saalfeld, which also attracts visitors with its historic town centre.</p>
<p>There are always nice places to take a break along the route and in larger towns there are also opportunities to stop for refreshments.</p>

<p>Le long de la lisière nord-est de la forêt de Thuringe, des vues et des paysages magnifiques, des petits villages et petites villes caractéristiques et de nombreux sites culturels thuringiens dignes d'intérêt permettent de compenser le dénivelé parfois nécessaire sur la route de la lisière de la forêt.</p>
<p>Commence à Hörschel où le Rennsteig prend naissance. Si l'on poursuit vers Eisenach et son château de la Wartburg, classé au patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO, ou vers la maison de Bach, l'un des musées de la musique les plus visités d'Allemagne, le circuit se déroule au début en même temps que la chaîne des villes de Thuringe. À Sättelstädt, l'itinéraire quitte la vallée de la Hörsel vers le sud pour atteindre la station thermale Kneipp de Bad Tabarz, en dessous du Grand Inselsberg, en passant par Schwarzhausen, Winterstein et Fischbach. Friedrichroda, la prochaine destination, est également appréciée pour ses cures thermales. Le voyage se poursuit à travers la vallée de Leina jusqu'à Ohrdruf, la ville de Bach, où le jeune Johann Sebastian a passé cinq ans de sa vie. Une série de petites localités avec des églises de village typiques, des vues pittoresques ou des petits musées se succèdent le long de la route jusqu'à Ilmenau, la ville universitaire et de Goethe. C'est là que l'on rencontre la piste cyclable de la vallée de l'Ilm et de l'Ilm-Rennsteig, que l'on suit sans grand changement d'altitude jusqu'à Langewiesen ou Gehren. Après Gehren, la piste cyclable mène sur une altitude douce le long de Jesuborn, Pennewitz et Dörnfeld à la lande jusqu'à Königsee. À partir de là, la route en lisière de forêt suit la vallée de la Rinne via Köditz, Rottenbach, Quittelsdorf jusqu'à Bad Blankenburg, un point d'entrée dans la pittoresque vallée de la Schwarza.</p>
<p>Près de Bad Blankenburg, le château de Greifenstein et sa fauconnerie constituent un but d'excursion intéressant.</p>
<p>Le cours inférieur de la Schwarza jusqu'à l'embouchure de la Saale à Rudolstadt-Schwarza est marqué par l'urbanisme. À partir de là, la route en lisière de forêt et la piste cyclable de la Saale se rejoignent jusqu'à Saalfeld, la ville des grottes de fées, qui séduit également par son centre-ville historique.</p>
<p>Le long de l'itinéraire, vous trouverez toujours de beaux endroits pour faire une pause et, dans les grandes villes, la possibilité de faire une halte.</p>
