Begeben Sie sich auf eine ca. 50 Kilometer lange Entdeckungsreise und lernen Sie drei Städte kennen, die für den Reformator prägend und wichtig waren. In Erfurt, wo Martin Luther sein Studium absolvierte und später zum Mönch wurde, startet die Radtour. Das Augustinerkloster in der Altstadt ist nach Wittenberg und der Wartburg eine der wohl bekanntesten Lutherstätten. Der erste Abschnitt führt Sie nach Weimar. Dort war Luther schon als junger Mönch häufig im Auftrag seines Ordens gewesen. Auf seinen zahlreichen Reisen durch Mitteldeutschland machte er hier oft Station. Sein letzter Besuch im Jahr 1540 galt seinem schwer kranken Freund Philipp Melanchthon, der - wie durch ein Wunder - wieder gesundete.  Fast 300 Jahre später äußerte sich Johann Wolfgang von Goethe über Luther: "Wir wissen gar nicht, was wir Luthern und der Reformation im allgemeinen alles zu danken haben. Wir sind frei geworden von den Fesseln geistiger Borniertheit, wir sind infolge unserer fortwachsenden Kultur fähig geworden, zur Quelle zurückzukehren und das Christentum in seiner Reinheit zu fassen. Wir haben wieder den Mut, mit festen Füßen auf Gottes Erde zu stehen und uns in unserer gottbegabten Menschennatur zu fühlen. " Der zweite Abschnitt der Radtour führt aus der Stadt Melanchthons und Cranachs hinaus, entlang der Ilm, durch Felder und Auen bis in die Kernberge von Jena und in die Stadt hinein, in der Luther mindestens elf Mal verweilte. Hier rechnete er auch mit einem ehemaligen Verbündeten ab, der anstatt Luthers gewaltlosen Weg der Reformation zu wählen, das Volk zu Übergriffen auf Klöster und andere Gotteshäuser ermutigte: Andreas Bodenstein (genannt Karlstadt). Die 1558 gegründete Universität Jena ist ein, wenn auch spätes Kind der Reformation. Vom Turm der Stadtkirche aus, in der Luther predigte und dessen bronzene Grabplatte hier ausgestellt ist, lassen sich einzelne Stationen des Lutherweges, der die Stadt durchquert, gut überblicken.

Embark on an approx. 50-kilometer-long journey of discovery and get to know three cities that were formative and important for the Reformer. The cycling tour starts in Erfurt, where Martin Luther studied and later became a monk. The Augustinian Monastery in the old town is, after Wittenberg and Wartburg, one of the best-known Luther sites. The first section takes you to Weimar. There, Luther, as a young monk, was often there on behalf of his order. On his numerous trips through central Germany, he often stopped here. His last visit in 1540 was to his seriously ill friend Philipp Melanchthon, who - as if by a miracle - recovered. Almost 300 years later, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe commented on Luther: "We do not even know what we owe to Luther and the Reformation in general. We have become free from the shackles of spiritual narrow-mindedness; as a result of our growing culture, we have become capable of returning to the source and understanding Christianity in its purity. We have regained the courage to stand firmly on God's earth and to feel ourselves in our God-given human nature." The second section of the cycling route leads out of the city of Melanchthon and Cranach along the Ilm, through fields and meadows, into the core mountains of Jena and into the city, where Luther stayed at least eleven times. Here, he also confronted a former ally who, instead of choosing Luther's nonviolent path of Reformation, encouraged the people to attack monasteries and other houses of God: Andreas Bodenstein (called Karlstadt). The University of Jena, founded in 1558, is a, albeit late, child of the Reformation. From the tower of the town church, where Luther preached and whose bronze grave plate is on display here, you can get a good overview of individual stations of the Luther trail that crosses the city.

Le deuxième tronçon de la balade à vélo quitte la ville de Melanchthon et Cranach, longe l'Ilm, traverse champs et prairies jusqu’aux montagnes centrales de Jena et dans la ville où Luther a séjourné au moins onze fois. Ici, il a aussi confronté un ancien allié qui, au lieu de choisir la voie non violente de Luther pour la Réforme, encouragerait la population à attaquer les monastères et autres lieux de culte : Andreas Bodenstein (appelé Karlstadt). L'université de Jena, fondée en 1558, est un enfant tardif de la Réforme. Depuis la tour de l'église de la ville où Luther a prêché et dont la plaque funéraire en bronze est exposée ici, on peut observer plusieurs stations du chemin de Luther qui traverse la ville.
