Im Schloss Ehrenstein Ohrdruf ist eine Dauerausstellung Johann Sebastian Bach und der Ohrdrufer Bachfamilie gewidmet. In der Zeit von 1703 bis 1708 war Bach Organist an der Neuen Kirche, heute Bachkirche, in Arnstadt. Ursprünglich wurde er eingeladen, um sich um die Orgel in der damaligen Kirche St. Bonifatius zu kümmern, wo er kurz danach zum Kirchenorganisten wurde. Im April 1723 begann er mit der angesehenen Position als Thomaskantor in Leipzig.
